WannaCry also known as WannaCrypt WanaCrypt0r 2.0, Wanna Decryptor and other similar names, is a ransomware program targeting Microsoft Windows. In May 2017, a large cyber attack attack was launched, infecting more than 230,000 computers in 99 countries, requiring ransom payments in Bitcoin in 28 languages. The attack was described by Europol as an unprecedented scale.

The Wanna Cry ransomware attack is one of the largest ever cyber attacks that appeared to be slowing around 24 hours after it wrecked havoc and shut down tens of thousands of computer systems across 104 countries.
