The Peruvian Aprista Party (APRA)

The Peruvian Aprista Party (APRA) is a political party initially projected on a continental scale, with a position similar to the center-left and a member of the Socialist International. The acronym APRA comes from the name of the Popular Revolutionary American Alliance, an initial proposal of its founder Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre to form a network of anti-imperialist social and political movements in Latin America. Its militants are called "compañeros" because of the Fraternity created by Haya de la Torre.
