Machine Design is a very important subject in Electrical Engineering. It teaches us the basic principles on which we design electrical equipment such as Transformers, induction machines, Synchronous Generators given the rating, materials and operating parameters. Most of the Design in Industry follows set procedures and empirical techniques but still it is important to know the basic principles.
It is clear that this subject focuses on the creative physical realization of theoretical concepts in machine production.

Design of armature and field systems for D.C machines.
A.C Machines
Design of core, yoke, windings and cooling systems of transformers.
Design stator and rotor of Induction Machines.
Design of stator and rotor of Synchronous Machines and their thermal behaviour.
The ultimate motive is to be able to model and analyze electrical apparatus and their application to power system.
