UNHCR Refugee Site Planning

The UNHCR refugee site planning application was developed for field personnel in refugee emergencies and provides support towards planning refugee sites in line with international standards (SPHERE and/or UNHCR good practice standards). This tool does not replace solid expertise and experience in site planning. For the actual construction and final planning of refugee camps and transit sites, we recommend seeking expert advice and personnel (site planners, shelter specialists etc).

It is part of the DISP® software suite developed by HITEC Luxembourg.

Components:

1. Site Planning Standards: Site planning and site selection standards

2. Site planning calculator: Calculates site needs depending of the number of refugees or refugee families.

3. GPS recorder: Records site GPS location

4. Record borders: Record site borders

5. Saved Sites: Access saved sites list and edit them

6. Recording geo-referenced images

7. Site geo-data –Send GPS location
