Beacon provides notifications through the back side camera flash,

firing off patterns of bright light when you receive SMS text messages or phone calls.

However, there are a ton of bugs and lacking support in the various device drivers for this kind of usage of the flash LED. Luckily There are a some workarounds that can be applied to make the app work for the various unsupported devices.

If you find that the Beacon app does not work on your device, try this app and see if you can find a combination of workarounds that resolves the problem.
