The Animated Cartoon story is about Motu and Patlu, two friends living in Furfuri Nagar. The kids show focuses that how they rescuing themselves from critical situations. Patlu is a slim man and the smartest guy in the city. He often gets into trouble along with Motu but he manages to help himself and Motu when they land in trouble. He loves to read newspapers but dislike samosas. He wears a yellow tunic with orange leggings, brown-framed glasses, and brown shoes.

Dr. Jhatka is a scientist and his accent is like a Punjabi Sardar. His inventions are usually very impressive, but little advantage for townspeople. More times they end up landing someone in trouble.

Chingum is a police inspector and he believes that no criminal can escape from his clutches. Most Often chingum catches criminals merely by luck with the help of Motu and Patlu. When he fires his gun in the air after telling his dialogue, coconuts fall on his head and makes him fall to the ground.

John the Don serves as the main antagonist of the kids show. John's aim is to become the super Don. But luckily his plans always fail very badly and thus end up in him getting arrested or being taunted by town people. He is not afraid of Chingam but is instead afraid of Motu and Patlu. He is beefy, and short in size and faces discrimination for that. He wears a blue dress shirt with dark blue flower prints, yellow undershirt, brown belt, dark periwinkle leggings with blue cuffs, and brown shoes.
