Deep Purple was formed in Hertfordshire in 1968 by Chris Curtis who later recruited Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore. This group was originally named Roundabout. But Chris Curtis just resign before he could release the album. Jon and Ritchie then invite Nick Simper, Rod Evans, and Ian Paice. The name of Deep Purple proposed by Ritchie Blackmore is taken from the title of favorite song Ritchie Blackmore's grandmother.
