Udavum Karangal means Helping Hands in Tamil. Our service extends to every stage of human life from the womb to the tomb. Since inception in 1983, we have reached out to those in need, thanks to your help. The Helper’s Choice App is for those with a commitment to social responsibility. There are 6 forms you can use to Help the Needy, and reach out to them with support from Udavum Karangal.

1) RESCUE A LIFE : A destitute person on the road is desperately in need of help. You can submit the requisite details using this form and help save a life. Thousands of lives have been saved and transformed because someone took the trouble to inform us.

2) REPORT MISSING PERSON : Have you or anyone you know lost someone? Send us details of the missing person and authorize us to publish the message in social media and our network of NGOs. You may get good news. Quite often a missing person ends up at Udavum Karangal. Reuniting the person with the family is an important task for us.

3) SHARE EXCESS FOOD : Family celebrations don’t end with providing a feast to the Invitees. Here is an opportunity to extend your celebration by sharing the excess food with the needy. Send us details of availability of excess food and its delivery. Sharing is caring.

4) DONATIONS IN CASH / KIND : You need not become a Social Worker to help the needy. You can do that through Udavum Karangal. Help us to collect contributions from your doorstep just by your entry in this APP. Be it money or kind like clothes, household articles, furniture, toys, medicines, provisions, books etc. We will ensure their collection from your place at the earliest.

5) SYDO (Surprise Your Dear Ones) : Enhance your relationships and celebrate your affection for your near and dear ones. Surprise them by a call from Pappa Vidyaakar wishing them on their birthdays, marriage days, success in exams, promotions, etc .You can donate to provide Food/Prayers for our residents to mark the special occasion. 6) JOIN OUR NETWORK : Join us in our endeavor and strengthen the cause we stand for. Become a member of Udavum Karangal Global Network ( UKGN) to serve the needy from wherever you are. Udavum Karangal is a Registered Non-profit secular social service organisation offering a wide range of services to destitute people.

Our Homes:

Abandoned babies, homeless mentally ill, the elderly, terminally ill , spastic and HIV+ men and women are welcomed by the loving hands of Udavum Karangal. Our various Homes at Chennai, Thiruvannamalai, Coimbatore and Madurai take care of their every need

Empowerment through Education : Our schools Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan (Thiruverkadu) and Sree Ramakrishna Vidya Mandir (Coimbatore) provide quality education to the children of Udavum Karangal and to those living around who are often first generation students.

• Special education to mentally impaired children through ABL method is provided.

• Our Wings Mobile School provides Informal education to children of migrant labourers

• Community Out- reach Programs: Jeevan School of Nursing, Computer Training , Tailoring Class and Creche are part of the Women’s Empowerment project. Free Library at Thiruverkadu helps community reading. Gayathri Medical Mission provides affordable healthcare to the under-privileged people of Thiruverkadu.

Community Awareness Programs: “Parivartan” creates awareness of mental illness and its treatment in the rural areas of Coimbatore and the Nilgiris. With Door to door campaign, Medical Screening , Psychiatric consultation , medication and counseling , all at no cost, Parivartan takes psychiatry to the doorstep of people who were either locked up or chained.
