The historical content of the mobile phone app, developed in consultation with ex-prisoners of war, Sandakan family members and historians, incorporates first-hand accounts of the camp. The mobile phone app allows visitors to take a self-guided tour of Sandakan Memorial Park and takes in several historical elements which helps convey the experiences of the Sandakan Prisoners of War.
