DIGITAL WORLD 2017 - Ready For Tomorrow

“Digital World” is the largest ICT Expo of Bangladesh which hosts IT Industry, Government, Academia, professionals, industry leaders, innovative products and services to highlight the achievements, applications and economic potentials of ICT. This event provides a platform to establish network with the local and regional/global IT-ITES industry leaders and experts with a view to share their best practices and experiences. Moreover, it provides a platform for showcasing a wide range of IT products, services, home grown technologies and innovations. In addition to this, Digital Word helps to flaunt many potentials of digital technologies as various policy makers, national/multinational/ international organizations, and academic institutions, startups, young IT entrepreneurs and young people actively participate in the event. The event facilitates communication and cooperation between foreign and local investors, venture capitals, icons from the IT world and the futurists.

“Digital World 2017” is the fifth event in a row. At first, it was held in 2011 as “e-Asia 2011”. Since then ICT Division has been continuing hosting this event every year. In 2012, this event was renamed as Digital World and subsequently ICT Division hosted Digital World in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Digital World 2017 will be held on 6-9 December 2017 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh is expected to inaugurate the event.

Digital World is organized by ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Access to Information Program (a2iProgram) of the Prime Minister’s Office of Bangladesh will be associated as implementing agencies. For successful hosting of the event, ICT Division has also built partnership with leading trade bodies of the country, such as Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing (BACCO), Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-Cab) and professional bodies such as Bangladesh Computer Society, Bangladesh IT Journalist Forum (BIJF), Bangladesh Women in IT (BWIT) and CTO Forum.

The theme of the Digital World 2017 is “Ready for Tomorrow”.

Bangladesh has been pursuing a technology-led Vision called Digital Bangladesh since 2009. In materializing this vision, the country has aggressively explored and adopted Information and Communication technologies in every sphere of lives. The readiness achieved has enhanced the capacity of the country to meet the needs of global ICT market. Alongside, the country has been promoting tech innovations in the country to encourage the young population to take up new and emerging challenges put forward by the fourth wave of technological advancement known as Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
