Hindu mythology is an immensely colossal figure of mythical narratives in Hinduism found in Hindu texts and other stories such as the epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana, and Akbar Birbal etc. As such, it is a subset of mainstream Indian culture. Rather than one consistent, monolithic structure, the same myth appears in sundry versions, varies with diverse traditions, developed by different sects, people and philosophical schools, in different regions and at different times, which are not compulsorily held by all Hindus to be literal accounts of historical events, but are taken to have deeper, often symbolic, construal, and which have been given an involute range of interpretations.
