The Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Snows is very important historically, religiously and culturally. The shrine witnesses the confluence of three religions — Hinduism, Islam and Catholicism. The Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Snows is a living monument which speaks volumes of the history of the Pearl Fishery Coast and in particular the history of Thoothukudi.
