While the 2022 Skoda Karoq does not look quite as daring as its predecessor, the wacky Yeti, it does have more upmarket styling than you might expect for a relatively affordable SUV, and you can pick up slick SportLine models or rugged Scout models if you want to stand out a little. Skoda promises the Karoq SUV will follow the design language seen in the Kodiaq, the first SUV in Skoda history. Skoda is expected to offer the Karoq SUV four-wheel-drive variants when it officially sells. Most versions of the Skoda Karoq are front-wheel drive, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Still, it is possible to purchase the more powerful diesel and gasoline versions with four-wheel purpose combined with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The most powerful versions of each 2.0-liter engine are available with four-wheel drive, but most Karoqs are front-wheel drive, and none are worse. As for the passing response, while many gears may hinder the Skoda Karoq's new power unit, the eight-speed gearbox is well-matched to the CR-V turbocharged 1.5-liter flat-four, handling its 110kW/250Nm of power with smooth, obeying shifts. While the 1.4-liter capacity will set off alarm bells for anyone who recalls the troublesome twin-charger engines with similar accommodations fitted to a range of VW and Skoda products, the units inside the Karoq seem less sophisticated and not to have suffered from the same problems.
