The saddle is a support structure for the rider or other load, which is tied to the animal's back with a thickness. The most common type is a riding saddle designed for a horse, but a special saddle has been created for camels and other creatures. It is not known clearly when the first rider started to use some sort of bearing or protection, but the blanket attached to some form of binder or thickness was probably the first "saddle" followed by a more elaborate soft design.

Solid trees are the next invention, and although the initial stirrup design precedes the discovery of solid trees, the paired stirrups, attached to the tree, are the last element of the saddle to achieve the basic shape still in use today. Today, modern saddles come in a variety of styles, each designed for a specific riding discipline, and require a careful match for both the rider and the horse.
