Khmer first e-learning App that teaches gender and violence against women.

Gender Concept is an e-learning tool that provides basic knowledge about the concept of gender, and measures the user’s level of understanding on this topic through a quiz. The first two parts clarify the definition of gender and explain gender stereotypes. The next part provides information about the effects of gender-based violence for Cambodian woman. The final part is a quiz on the content of application.

Gender Concept is the first e-learning application in Khmer language that teaches gender and violence against women by using voice instead of text. Voice and pictures make the content available to all Cambodian citizens, including those who cannot read. Gender Concept makes practical use of ICT to generate awareness on gender perspective among people who work with victims, seeking to contribute to the reduction of gender-based violence in Cambodia. This e-learning tool has been developed by UNICEF Cambodia with technical support from Open Institute.
