Etta Adil sebenarnya adalah nama panggilan, yang juga digunakan nama pena dari M FARID W MAKKULAU. Dilahirkan 21 Desember 1975, anak kedua dari pasangan Bapak Drs Bundu Makkulau (Puang Beta) dan Ibu Ince Husnah Dg Sunggu. Menyelesaikan Pendidikan SD-SMU di Kota Kelahirannya, Pangkajene Kabupaten Pangkep. Kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan di Kota Daeng, Makassar pada beberapa Perguruan Tinggi: AKL Depkes, STMIK Handayani, Ma'had AlBirr UNISMUH, STAI DDI Pangkep, dan Universitas Terbuka (UT).
