BOSCO REACH OUT

Bosco Reach Out (BRO), established in 1983, is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. BRO is the official socio development wing of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, North East India and it is registered under the Societies Registration Act (SR/BRO 226/83 of 1983). BRO is committed to the integral and holistic development of the human person and is rooted in the Salesian charisma within the church and in the society.

VISION

Bosco Reach Out visualizes a self-sustaining, self-reliant and dignified community where people live responsibly, striving for a just, equal and harmonious society.

MISSION

BRO seeks to achieve integral development through empowerment of people by enabling them to build People’s Organizations and enhancing their capacities to utilize their resources optimally and have their rightful place in the society.

GOALS

People’s Organization:

People’s organizations will have become independent in their management and will continue to address socio economic issues through self-help and rights-based actions like mobilizing government schemes, fighting against atrocities, improving living conditions, promoting environment, preparing against emergencies, etc.

Micro Credit and Micro Enterprise Development

Individuals and Communities will have access to credit through self-help mechanisms and through external sources and will have enhanced their economic status through sustainable, self-managed farm and non-farm based micro enterprise.

Food Security through Agriculture and Livestock Development

Individuals and communities will have improved and sustained their food security by increasing their agriculture and livestock production levels, achieved through advanced and sustainable practices.

Gender

Women have begun enjoying their status, at par with men, on aspects of decision-making in families and communities; will have greater mobility, access to resources and a more equal share of responsibilities and work.

Governance

Traditional Governance institution of tribal communities and others will have been strengthened so as to be able to work for the well-being of their communities and others in a forward looking manner with norms of fairness, transparency and accountability.

Health

Communities will enjoy better health by solving problems related to malnutrition, malaria, T.B., reproductive health, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

Partner Support

Grassroots level NGOs improve their knowledge, skills, systems and procedures for effective and result oriented functioning and will have gained access to developmental resources.

Ecology and Environmental Protection

Support sustainable development keeping in mind vulnerability of ecology and necessity of environmental protection.

Youth Development

Youth, especially the marginalized group, are equipped with vocational skills and empowered through education to shape the future of society.

Marginalized Children

We seek to mainstream them by providing them educational opportunities through special schools and intensive coaching.
