The Church of Pentecost emerged from the ministry of Rev. James McKeown. It is a Pentecostal church with about 20,000 congregations with more than 3 million members worldwide. Ebenezer Down Assembly is one of such local congregation.

In the early 1995 when Pastor (now Apostle Retired) N. A. O. Amegatcher was the Dansoman District Pastor, a mammoth rally was held under the auspices of the Witness Movement then led by Elder (now Pastor) Job Owiredu at the Dansoman Secondary School Compound. This resulted in winning about 25 souls.

On the 15th of January, 1995 the souls won together with few brothers and sisters, two elders, 1 deacon and a deaconess totaling 37 were housed in one of the classrooms of the Dansoman Secondary School to form the nucleus of Grace Assembly which is now EBENEZER DOWN ASSEMBLY. Elder Felix Bosompim was the first Presiding Elder and was supported by Elder Daniel Boahene Opoku.

Through intense discipleship, the congregation has experienced growth in all sphere of lives and stand as a gateway for holistic christian living.
