Eid al-Fitr is Arabic for "festival of the breaking of the fast." Eid kickstarts the month of Shawwal, which begins with a feast to end the period of Ramadan. Eid or Eid al-Fitr, is a time for feasting and celebration. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer that started on May 27 and finished on Saturday June 24. Eid 2017 starts on Sunday June 25 and marks the start of a month of celebration.
