OCR Assistant is based on the Optical Character Recognition technique to be perfromed on android platform. The application provides easy access to users to access online information using authentic online resources such as IMDB, OpenFDA (OpenFoodAndDrugAdministration), AmazonBooks and DuckDuckGo SearchEngine.

The application facilitates the android users, to use their devices to perform daily life tasks that are done with time consumption, resulting in sometimes confusion and sometimes frustration. These tasks might be recharging your mobile balance by viewing a card with concentration and then entering a 14 digit code to your mobile, when you are on a call with your network provider helpline, or for searching about a book, a movie, while standing inside a book shop or a movie store to know how this movie is, what cast includes in it and what is the summary or rating of that movie or book. This might also be used to look for a medicine online detail or a meaning for a word using internet which is an easy but a hectic task which results in time wastage and user frustration. We are providing android users this facility so that our application may provide them easy way to solve these tasks.

To achieve these tasks, we used the OCR technology on android platform to use the capabilities of image processing in our application.
