Safie is an easy app for emergency situations.The app works as a tool that can help you notify your close contacts in case of an emergency and also gives you the possibility to report harassment incidents in an anonymous way. By having people raise a voice regarding these incidents we will be raising awareness on the topic and create pressure to the authorities to take action. Harassment is a growing problem, and our mission is to showcase the extend of it and in collaboration with the Government and Non Governmental Organizations to address it.

The Application has two main functions:

The Emergency Button is places in the main page of the app that by pressing it, an emergency request, that includes the current location, is sent to selected contacts via the App and also via SMS. The objective of this function is to notify your close contacts with your current location so they can contact the police and other authorities that you are in distress.

The Incident Reporting Map (Crime Map) is a function that users can report incidents after they happened. Currently there are 3 types of incidents that a user can submit. A verbal harassment case, a physical harassment case and in the case that a third person sees an incident they can report it under See it , Say it option. The reports are by default anonymous and the user can include information such as the location of the incident, the time that the incident happened and also a photo and comments. By gathering this information based on location and time the map becomes a source for identifying unsafe areas and pool of information that we can share with the authorities in order to help in investigations. The main objective of this function is to create tool for anybody that has experienced harassment to speak about it and report it in an anonymous way.
