Enjoy a multimedia tour of two exhibitions, "Seduction: Japan’s Floating World" and The "Printer’s Eye: Ukiyo-e from the Grabhorn Collection" (February 20–May 10, 2015). Laura Allen, the museum’s curator of Japanese art, along with renowned scholars of Japanese art, Melinda Takeuchi, Timon Screech and Laurence Kominz, will be your personal guides on this exploration of the complex and alluring art of Japan’s floating world.

In Edo Period Japan (1615–1868), the phrase “floating world” evoked a pleasure-seeking way of life, free from everyday obligations. These two simultaneous exhibitions explore the floating world through more than 110 objects dating back to the 17th century. While "Seduction" features items meant largely for the upper class—including paintings, kimonos and a 58-foot-long scroll imagining a visit Japan’s most famous pleasure quarter in rich detail—"The Printer's Eye" focuses on a rarely seen assemblage of exquisite Japanese woodblock prints.
