``Famous Lord Kira-san''

This is a folk tale from Kira-cho, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture.

Kira Kaminosuke is famous for being the villain of Chushingura, but he was actually a gentle and kind ruler who cared for his people.

This is a story based on an anecdote that is still passed down in Kira Town.

"Isshiki's large lantern"

This is a folk tale from Isshiki-cho, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture.

Why are the large lanterns displayed at the Suwa Shrine festival on August 26th and 27th every year so large?

The reason why lanterns were worshiped was based on a folk tale.

"Shibun Rock"

This is a folk tale from Hazu-cho, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture.

One summer in the Edo period, Tanimura was suffering from a drought.

As the magistrate, Kyuzaemon Ishizuka, investigates, he finds a pond in Kamihata village called ``Kamiike'', which has never dried up since ancient times...

"Tengu's feather fan"

The story takes place at Ibun Shrine in the center of Nishio City.

A swordsman named Yadobei Kawai had a sword fight with a mischievous tengu, and when he won, he received a feather fan from the tengu, but instead of heeding the tengu's advice, he showed the feather fan to others and boasted about it. I'll put it away. Then...

"Nishigama Line Story"

This is the story of the Meitetsu train that runs between Nishio City and Gamagori City in Aichi Prefecture. During the Meiji period, railways were imported from overseas, and lines expanded around Tokyo.

Routes were extended from Nagoya to Aichi Prefecture, and the town developed accordingly. The story depicts the development of the town and the history of the railway using words and illustrations that are easy for children to understand.
