The Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main is one of the most renowned botanical gardens in Europe. It was created in 1868 on the initiative of Heinrich Siesmayer. He won over citizens of Frankfurt for his idea, who bought shares with a total value of more than 200,000 guilders in order to bring Duke Adolph von Nassau's valuable plant collections from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt. From 2021, when the palm garden will be 150 years old, visitors can stroll among tropical butterflies and plants and learn how pollination works and why it is so important. The flower and butterfly house is expected to open at the end of February 2021.
