Great chess varient from Thailand and very close to the original game from which our familiar western/international Chess is derrived.
The outer pieces are the same as the rook and move the same way. Inside from there the horse moves exactly as a knight. Finally the big one in the middle is the king and moves exactly like a king.
We now have two more back row pieces that are different from Chess. The Kings partner is the smallest called the seed. It moves diagonally like a bishop but only one space. The other are a pair on either side of the king and the seed. The noblemen. They move just like the seed but can also move one space forward.

Next the pawns are just like chess pawns but they start on the third row and promote to a seed when they reach your opponents pawn row. Their are also some compicated rules for deciding a draw as stalemates are more common in Makruk.

I like this app more than Alisa. It has a lot of easier levels. Id give five stars if it had lessons for openings. Hard to find in English.
