Kalanchoe ( Kalanchoë ) a genus of succulent plants of the family Tolstyankovye ( Crassulaceae ). More than two hundred species are known to grow in tropical and southern Africa in South and South-East Asia and in the tropics of South America. Forms closely related genus bryophyllum Bryophyllum Salisb. Are sometimes included in the genus Kalanchoe. Some species are popular houseplants.

Naked or pubescent succulent plants from a few centimeters to 3-4 meters in height among which there are epiphytes and lianas. In many species on the leaves and in the inflorescences buds are formed from which new plants develop. Previously these species were combined into the genus Bryophyllum which is now considered to be one of the three sections of the genus Kalanchoe.

Leaves are diverse in form usually located opposite sometimes in whorls of three rarely regular often with a stalkscomplete petiole or base juicy simple whole-edged or dentate lobate pinnately cut or pinnately divided.

Inflorescence terminal usually three-part paniculate type of false umbrella. Very often the flower stem is covered with gradually decreasing leaves.

Flowers are four-membered upright or drooping rather large white pink purple greenish yellow reddish or red. Petals can more or less merge into a tube. Tubular flowers of calanchoe pinnate resembling bells are pollinated by birds. Eight stamens are located in two circles in varying degrees fused with the tube.
