The learning of Indonesian History for Class XII at the Secondary Education level presented in this book is also subject to these provisions. Indonesian history does not contain learning material designed only to hone students' knowledge competencies. Indonesian history is a subject that equips students with knowledge about the space-time dimensions of Indonesia's historical journey, skills in presenting the knowledge they have mastered concretely and abstractly, as well as an attitude of respect for the services of heroes who have laid the foundations of the Indonesian state building and all forms of historical heritage, both objects or non-objects. So that students' mindsets are formed that are historically aware.

As a mandatory lesson that must be taken by all students who are not necessarily interested in history, this book is structured using the more popular regressive approach. Through observations of socio-cultural conditions and a number of historical legacies that can be found today, students are invited to travel back in time to the past when the events that underlie the formation of civilization occurred which are the background for these socio-cultural conditions and historical heritage. The discussion continues with subsequent events that caused the development or decline of this civilization to become what remains today.

This book describes the minimum effort that students must make to achieve the expected competencies. In accordance with the approach used in the 2013 Curriculum, students are invited to be brave enough to look for other learning resources that are available and spread widely around them. The teacher's role in increasing and adapting students' absorption capacity to the availability of activities in this book is very important. Teachers can enrich it with creations in the form of other appropriate and relevant activities originating from the social and natural environment.

As the first edition, this book is very open to input and will continue to be revised for improvements. Therefore, we invite readers to provide criticism, suggestions and input to improve and perfect the next edition. For this contribution, we thank you. Hopefully we can provide the best for the progress of the world of education in order to prepare the generation for the centennial of Indonesia's Independence (2045).
