বউ-ঠাকুরানীর হাট গ্রন্থাকারে প্রকাশিত রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের প্রথম উপন্যাস। প্রকাশকাল ‘শক পৌষ ১৮০৪’ (ইং ১৮৮৩ খ্রি.)। ভারতী পত্রিকায় প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়। এটি রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্যের জীবনী অবলম্বনে রচিত একটি ঐতিহাসিক উপন্যাস। কবি উপন্যাসটি উৎসর্গ করেন দিদি সৌদামিনী দেবীর উদ্দেশ্যে। এই উপন্যাস রচনার তিরিশ বছর পরে রবীন্দ্রনাথ এর গল্পাংশ নিয়ে রচনা করেন প্রায়শ্চিত্ত নাটক (১৯০৯)। তারও কুড়ি বছর পর পুনরায় এই নাটকটি ভেঙে কবি লেখেন পরিত্রাণ নাটকখানি (১৯২৯)।
