This predictor calculates the procentual possibility for the eye color of your prospective children.

This calculator is based on two eye colour genes, located in chromosome 15 and 19. Every person inherit(e)s 23 pairs of chromosomes from his/her parents; one pair from the mother and one pair from the father. Thus, everyone has two copies from both of these genes. Eye colour inheritance is further influenced by the fact that each gene has two forms, the so called alleles. The eye colour depends on the combination of alleles inherited from one's parents.

Certain alleles are dominant over others that are recessive. This means that the dominant allele determines the trait.

Nine possible genotypes exist with this 2-gene model. Each genotype is a combination of four alleles; two alleles inhereted from the mother and two from the father.

Finally, eye color genoms are not fully explored by modern science. This app has a precise calculation, but it is always possible that your children will have a different eye color than predicted!
