對於Geograph照片網站用戶。顯示附近廣場的地理位置狀態。
For contributors to the UK Geograph photography website. This app tracks your position and will alert you if you enter an Ordnance Survey grid square that you haven't yet photographed.
A grid of surrounding squares is shown, colour coded to show which ones you haven't yet photographed.
You location is updated in the app at regular intervals.
Note on allowing Location Services:
Since about Android 6 or 7 it seems to have been more difficult to get apps to use location services. If on your phone you go into Settings, Apps & Notifications, App permissions, then Location. Scroll down to the Geograph Alerts app and toggle the switch on the right to the "on" position. This should now make the app able to find your location.
Hint on using the grid in the app:
If you click on a square on the grid, it will re-centre on that grid square, so you can gradually move around. A long-press on any grid square will re-centre the grid on your current location.
You may notice that squares that have been shown on the grid recently are re-shown quickly. The data for displayed squares is stored in your device for 24 hours to make the display more efficient - so it doesn't have to go back to the Geograph site to keep getting squares you have already. After 24 hours the locally stored data is ignore, and data is once again retrieved from the Geograph site.
