Asghar Ali Karbalaie belongs to a religious family from Kargil Ladakh, born and raised up in Karbala the holy city in Iraq, where his father Late Sheikh Muhammad Abass was pursuing religious education.

Through his life Karbalaie has always been the strongest proponent of political purpose. Since from childhood he has always voice against social injustice, favoritism and political hypocrisies on the lines of non-violence. He has been in politics directly or indirectly through a lifelong tryst, so he studied history, and developed a keen understanding of regional social fabrics. He focused the youth to stand against the political hypocrisy, at the time when, a few people bargains with the destiny of Kargil for their self-interest and benefits. People in Kargil at the time was not aware of national-prestige, dignity and identity, the whole community was hijacked by a group of elite people, who believed to suppress the community for ruling.

The inbuilt values of Karbalai instilled him to devote his life to giving every child education, regardless of his or her background, so he was very concerned about the education and educational quality in the region, through which he would be able to aware the community against injustice.

Karbalai began working in the field of education and many new initiatives like introduction of public school in Kargil goes to his credit. The influence of his work in the education sector is apparent in his political leanings, which helped him to understand the grievance of poor people at gross root level. The call to serve the people and society came to him in 2004 when he was elected as LAHDC, Councillor from Akchamal/Poyen Constituency and became Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil.

He took office at a moment of crisis unlike any politician had ever seen– a challenge of conspiracies around, the people Dream of highest excellent government and unstable political situation. Still he had shown a new and efficient administration as CEC, LAHDC Kargil and launched new central and state sponsored schemes in Kargil for the first time. As the MLA Kargil, Karbalai has played a role strong leader raising the issues of Kargil on the floor of state assembly for which he was marshaled out from the House. He has a championed voice and led the battle against the ruling government on poorly implemented policies such as allocation of funds and more. Education has been one of the core areas of focus for him. He constantly focused on education and sanctioned new higher education institution and colleges in the constituency.

He was among the founders of Imam Khomini Memorial trust IKMT Kargil and worked shoulder to shoulders with Late Sheikh Muhammad Hussain Zakiri to establish the organisation. IKMT Kargil instituted Muttahhari public school in Kargil to improve modern and scientific education in the society.

The vision of Karbalai and his strategy to fight the democratic battle with love and unity is what makes the people of Kargil proud and united. He has a clear vision of development and progress of the society aims to create a systems that provide every citizens with the tools and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
