Girija Devi is an Indian Hindustani Classical Music vocalist. She performs classical and light classical music and has helped elevate the profile of the Thumri.

Born in Varanasi, her father played the harmonium and taught music, and had her take lessons in singing khyal and tappa from vocalist and sarangi player Sarju Prasad Misra. Girija Devi made her debut in 1949 on All India Radio Allahabad, and despite opposition from family members went to carve a niche for herself in the field of Hindustani Classical Music, continuing the tradition of singing and teaching several students to preserve her musical heritage, often being referred as the ‘Queen of Thumr.’

Girija Devi was awarded the Padma Shri in 1972, Padma Bhushan in 1989 and the Pdma Vibhushan in 2016.
