Displays Various DIY Aquaponics Ideas
Aquaponics is one way to reduce water pollution produced by fish farming and also become an alternative to reduce the amount of water used by cultivation system. Iaponic technology is one alternative that can be applied in order to solve the limitations of water. Aquaponik is a blend of two systems namely hydroponics and aquaculture. This system combines between plants and aquatic animals. The explanation is very simple, in aquaculture techniques in which fish become the main ingredient is constrained in the increase of ammonia levels produced by fish feces. Whereas plants need nutrients that almost all of them are fulfilled by fish droppings. Then there will be a symbiotic relationship between each other that can benefit both.
In aquaponics, nutrient-rich effluents from fish basins are used as fertilizer for hydroponic plant production. This is good for fish, as plant roots become the surface medium for the growth of Rhizobacteria which will overhaul nutrient waste from the aquaculture system. These nutrients are derived from fish, alge, and feed residues that can accumulate to the toxic level in the fish basin, but instead serve as a liquid fertilizer for plant growth in hydroponics. Thus, hydroponics serves as a biofilter to absorb ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and phosphorus, so that clean water can then be channeled back to the fish basin. Nitrifying bacteria living in filter media and associated with plant roots play a major role in the nutrient cycle; Without these microorganisms the whole system will cease to function.
