Dream pop is a musical genre perceived to be classified under alternative rock and pop rock. According to the Allmusic Guide to Electronica, Dream pop is “an atmospheric sub-genre of alternative rock that relies on sonic textures as much as melody.”

Dream pop’s musical attributes include the prevalence of “breathy” vocal, lyrics that are largely contemplative and observational in nature, and utilization of a variety of guitar effects that project a “wall of noise.” In terms of album art, design for Dream pop albums usually have “blurry pastel imagery or stark minimalist designs,” or every so often a blend of these approaches.
