Install the Gear Viewer App first!
This app lets you view images sent by your WhatsApp friends on the Galaxy watches/Gear S2/Gear S3/ Galaxy Watch Actives 1/2. It solves the notification problem that does not display new WhatsApp images.

Make sure you allow the app to access photos on your phone and enable Images inside auto-download settings in WhatsApp
