DAB+ Hybrid Radio - DE

The first german DAB+ hybrid radio app

To use this app with all functionality the user needs a smartphone with integrated DAB+ chip. Currently this is only the case with the LG Stylus 2. On all other Android smartphones IP is used to play programs.

✪ The app’s functionalities at a glance: ✪

- DAB+ reception via DAB+ chip in smartphone.

- If the DAB+ signal strength is insufficient, the app changes to IP stream automatically. This functionality can be disabled in the preferences. Please be aware that use of the IP stream requires a data plan. 

- Additional DAB+ features like slideshow and display of additional data.

- Playback of all stations via IP stream.

- Favorites functionality for your favorite stations.

- Currently available: German public radio stations.

The basic version of this app will remain free in the future and we are constantly working on improving the app. We have planned quite a lot of additional functionality, for example a podcast player that we will deliver as a free update. We will have to spend some more time developing this before this feature is ready. Also planned: support for DAB+ USB sticks.

✪ The app ask for these permissions: ✪

android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

This is for the IP player to know if internet is available and if it’s already playing to detect when the internet is lost and stop the player.

android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS

The app uses it to get the user’s google account to associate it with the payment for the “restore my subscription or payment” feature in case the app was deleted or used on another app by the same user.

android.permission.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS

The app needs this for the speaker button to switch between speaker and headphones.

android.permission.WAKE_LOCK

It’s part of the internet permission and it’s also used to keep the screen on while playing.

com.android.vending.BILLING

The app needs this for in app purchase.
