This app contains the full text of Lionel Giles' public domain translation of 1910, as transcribed by ISTA, the Internet Sacred Text Archives. The text is organized by Chapter Number (using Roman numerals) / Title and then by Paragraph (using Arabic numbers), following the structure of Giles' translation.
One of the most influential works on military theory, both in China, and worldwide since the 19th century, the "Art of War", written over 2500 years ago, is the world's oldest known treatise on military strategy and tactics. It applies Taoist principles to military statecraft, emphasizing quick and decisive defeat of the enemy, preferably without engaging in actual combat.
The app offers the user the ability to randomly select an individual saying for contemplation, as well as the ability to choose an individual saying by Chapter Number/Name and Paragraph (with leading text to help provide context), along with the ability to search the text for sayings containing a particular word, and of course to scroll through the full text of the document.
