PRANAYAMA BREATHING
Pranayama breathing in yoga refers to breathing techniques to change the state of consciousness. "Prana" is a Sanskrit word meaning life force, "ayama" meaning "expansion" or "stretching". That said, most areas of yoga involve pranayama breathing practices that are beneficial to the body. Every cell in the human body needs oxygen to function properly. Regular practice of controlled pranayama breathing helps to reduce the effects of stress and improve overall mental and physical health. The pranayama techniques help to optimise digestion, improve sleep, allow one to lose weight, reduce body temperature and relieve stress. Originally, pranayama was part of a spiritual practice, but today many people use it purely for health care.
Not all breathing practices are appropriately called pranayama breathing. If we talk specifically about pranayama breathing, then it is appropriate to call the breathing techniques with a long, at least two minutes, breath retention that are used in yoga. Long delays can be very dangerous to both physical and mental health, so they should learn only under the supervision of experienced teachers. But it is really useful for almost everyone to learn how to breathe consciously without delaying.
WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO RECOVER FROM PNEUMONIA?
Breathing exercises help you to recover effectively from pneumonia. Our app Breathee explains how to do breathing exercises during and after the pneumonia.
In pneumonia, there are areas of thickening due to swelling and inflammation in the interstitium. If there is swelling and inflammation, normal gas exchange is interrupted and it is difficult for oxygen to get from the air to the blood. In the acute period of pneumonia, correct positioning and breathing of the patient helps the fluid from the affected areas to be absorbed as quickly as possible.
Exercise 3 or 4 times a day after pneumonia. The time is according to your tolerance. Gradually, the duration and load are increased. The breathing and physical exercises should be done regularly, at least for three months after pneumonia. Thereafter, the condition should be adapted accordingly.
The main exercise recommended for patients with or recovering from pneumonia is diaphragmatic breathing - abdominal breathing. During the inhalation phase, patients with or recovering from pneumonia should try to fill the belly as much as possible, while during the exhalation phase you should try to draw it in. In order to catch this moment, it is easier to start with exhalation. Doing these exercises will help you recover faster from pneumonia.
