Mermaids, as a rule, are depicted naked, with beautiful long hair, sometimes with a mirror or sea pearls. According to the legends of the Slavic peoples, young somersults and souls of unbaptized children turned into mermaids. Which then came out of the rivers at night to scrub their green hair, and if they met a man, then he would lust him to himself, and then climb to death. Our ancestors, by the way, were treated with great respect and trepidation to the image of a mermaid, as patrons of vegetation and harvest. Considered her as a symbol of rivers and forests, she brought good luck and grief.
